Masterworks from the 20th Century on Exhibition at YAM

The Yellowstone Art Museum is pleased to announce the exclusive exhibition of five works by three of the most distinct and recognizable artists of the 20th century. The exhibition will run until Nov. 25, 2018, and viewing is included in the price of admission to Montana’s largest contemporary art museum.

The slate of special loans includes Hans Arp’s cast bronze sculpture Fleur dansante, Jean-Michel Basquiat’s monumental painting Flesh and Spirit, Joan Miró’s cast bronze sculpture Personnage and his iconic painting Femme entendant de la musique. Many visitors will recognize all three of these masters who left their lasting impressions on modernism and who continue to influence many of today’s most notable contemporary artists. Each work
reinforces the other’s contribution to surrealism and the evolution of visual language of the 20th century.

ArtWalk Downtown Billings

ArtWalk Downtown Billings began in 1994 when a group of visionary folks created a recurring event that highlighted the ever-growing community of artists and art galleries in downtown Billings. In 2016, ArtWalk became affiliated with the Downtown Billings Alliance.

All ArtWalk events are free to the public. The events are organized and paid for by season members, one-time participants and generous sponsors. Featured artists frequently attend. Food and beverages are often served, and live music is offered.

In addition to the many fine arts and fine crafts offered for sale, ArtWalk has grown to include opportunities to make art, gallery talks, dance and theater performances. Host sites include galleries, art studios, businesses, a downtown Billings church, nonprofit entities, restaurants and other organizations that value the creative spirit that thrives in downtown Billings.

ArtWalk is “weather-resistant.” This event is not canceled for rain, thunder or hailstorms in the summer. For more information, visit
